Good News On The Way?

They say a strong El Niño is forming.  Could be the answer to our drought.  Prediction: If it happens what we’ll hear is a lot of complaining about flooding, leaking roofs and traffic jams due to wet conditions.

They say there is an agreement between Europe and Greece that staves off (at least for now) their financial crisis.  Prediction: If it happens all parties will claim it is good news and the best deal possible.

They say an agreement with Iran about their nuclear program is nearly a done deal.  Prediction: If it happens all parties will claim it is good news and the best deal possible.

They say that when the Republicans have their first debate in a month, which Fox News is co-sponsoring with Facebook, only 10 (of the so far 15) candidates will be on the stage.  The 10 winners, Fox says “must have placed in the top 10 of an average of the five most recent national polls.”  Prediction: The squeals of “unfair” from the ones who don’t make the cut will be louder than the debate itself.

They say that the scandals engulfing FIFA call into question whether the current plans to play the World Cup in Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022 should be reevaluated.  Easy answer: Of course they should be reevaluated and when proof of bribery is found (which it will be) the locations should be changed.  Prediction: Even with proof of bribery, politics and money will keep the 2018 Cup in Russia.  As for 2022, goodbye Qatar.
